The Polytechnic University is at the crossroad of engineering challenges and their solutions: summer school “Alternative energy” has been held at NPUA

Thematic courses, practical training courses and professional games were held. The aim was to enrich and expand schoolchildren’s knowledge in alternative energy.

Summer school “Alternative energy” has gathered schoolchildren population from different places at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.

Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Marinka Baghdasaryan opened the summer school and expressed her gratitude to schoolchildren interested in the alternative energy. She pointed out that one of the most important challenges of the 21st century is the alternative energy where modern ideas are discovered every day.

The Polytechnic University also has conducted research activities and successes in the sphere of alternative energy. The engineering giant of Armenia is a sustainable environment where reputable specialists of the alternative energy sphere visit and implement modern ideas and projects with the academic staff of the university.

Summer school “Alternative energy” is an environment where imagination of schoolchildren about engineering is getting comprehensive and it also orientates them to become leading specialist in the sphere of alternative energy in the future.

25 schoolchildren from Sero Khanzadyan N 184 high school, Charentsavan N 5 secondary school, NPUA High School and Hrachya Tadevosyan secondary school participated in it.

It was a unique opportunity to get familiar with the fundamentals and methods of alternative energy and equipment functioning at the Polytechnic University.

NPUA experienced specialists, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the Institute of Energetics and Electrical Engineering Alexander Drnoyan, acting head of the Chair of Thermal Energy and Nature Protection Mery Ghazaryan, President of the Student Council, Supervisor of the Center of Excellence Schneider Electric – Tashir-NPUA Mikayel Martirosyan have led the courses.

Practical courses were also held connected with application of the alternative sources of energy. Small solar panels were disseminated to the participants by means of which they could get energy and charge their phones.

The schoolchildren have studied energy sphere of different countries and presented it via slide shows. At the end of the summer school the participants have played the intellectual game “You Know” making their routine more interesting.

At the end of the summer school the Vice-rector for Science Areg Grigoryan has given certificates to the participants and pointed out that it was an excellent opportunity for them to combine their rest and studies.
