“Kapan technological center” has been opened at Kapan branch of the Polytechnic University

Today, November 12, “Kapan technological center” has been opened at Kapan branch of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. NPUA rector Gor Vardanyan, Head of the inter-agency committee on Syunik, adviser to the RA Prime Minister Robert Ghukasyan, deputies of the National Assembly Armen Khachatryan, Karen Hambardzumyan, Narek Ghahramyan, Vahagn Aleksanyan, the secretary-general of RA Syunik regional municipality Edgar Martirosyan, NPUA pro-rector, Chief of Staff Elbak Elbakyan, pro-rector on Science and Scientific-Technological cooperation Areg Grigoryan, director of Kapan branch Artur Kostanyan, ANEL coordinator, director of science and technological cooperation at the institute of information and communication technologies and electronics Amalya Mkhitaryan, teaching staff representatives and guests were present at the official opening ceremony.

While welcoming the participants, rector Gor Vardanyan expressed his gratitude to the Head of the inter-agency committee on Syunik, adviser to the RA Prime Minister Robert Ghukasyan and representatives of international institutions for showing a rather significant support for the establishment of such a laboratory at NPUA Kapan branch and at the same time he pointed out that with the establishment of innovative basic engineering, information technology and robotics laboratories, it will become possible to carry out quality education, create science and research environment and to effectively carry out the policy of engineering education in the region. In his speech, the rector addressed the role of the laboratories, as the best eco environment and opportunities for the implementation of start-up ideas and professional orientation, by the means of which many young people can see their professional activities in the sphere of high technologies, earn huge amounts of money and continue to live in their region and contribute to its development and flourishing.

For their huge contribution and support in the establishment and renovation works of the newly-founded laboratories of Kapan branch of Polytechnic University, Head of the inter-agency committee on Syunik, adviser to the RA Prime Minister Robert Ghukasyan and deputy of the National Assembly Davit Danielyan were awarded with NPUA Certificates of Honor.

On the basis of “Kapan computer laboratory” and “Mobile solutions laboratory”, “Kapan technological Center” was established, with its total area of 560 square meter (Polytechnic engineering center), that is equipped with modern technical means.

“Kapan computer laboratory” came into existence under the auspices of inter-agency work group on Syunik, established by decree of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, with the assistance of international partners and RA “Foundation on development and investment in Syunik region”, and a total of 55 million Armenian drams has been invested so far.

The technological center will support the profound learning in the sphere of information technology among high and secondary school students as well as will incentivize the engineering education among schoolchildren, as well as the development of engineering abilities and programming skills of students of Kapan branch and preparation of the prospective employees for the industrial companies of the region.
