Meetings at the schools of Hrazdan

Chemistry is science that can assist not only the chemical sphere but also the development of the economy as a whole. Medicines, foodstuffs, agriculture, building materials, bio-technology, machine-building, energetics and other achievements in chemistry are used in these and other spheres.

Faculties of Chemical Technology and Environmental Engineering of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia prepare practical engineers for the industry.

Currently, that direction is essential but the nature of its preparation has changed in quality. Faculty graduates should be able to solve problems in complex manner – science-production – environment. It is dictated by the global problem of the sustainable development of society.

Taking into account the above-mentioned, it is necessary to involve the best applicants to continue their education at the university. That is why, the academic staff of the faculty visit schools of different regions of the republic to orientate them in profession choice during meetings with school leavers.

This time, faculty dean, Professor A. Tadevosyan and PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor G. Varderesyan visited a number of schools in Hrazdan town.

First we visited Hrazdan H.Orbeli High school Nr 13, where school director H. Harutyunyan accompanied us to the classroom where 11th grade schoolchildren studying in natural science class gathered to meet us.

Mr. A. Tadevosyan introduced history of the faculty, specialties list and attracted attention of the schoolchildren on the fact that the government attaches importance to technical education especially in the spheres of chemistry and mining.

The faculty has stable connection with scientific and industrial organizations where they prepare the specialists.

  1. Varderesyan told the schoolchildren about specialties of the faculty highlighting new specialties, and advised to orientate in the correct choice of the profession.

The schoolchildren listened with great enthusiasm to A. Tadevosyan and G. Varderesyan.

Being encouraged by numerous questions of the schoolchildren, we went to Hrazdan High School Nr.10. We have met 10th and 11th grade schoolchildren here.

School director N. Simonyan also attached importance to the fact that schoolchildren are to be well informed that will encourage them in the right orientation in the profession choice.

Dean of the faculty of Chemical Technology A. Tadevosyan told about functioning of the faculty and the Polytechnic University.

He explained what kind of knowledge students get at the Polytechnic University. Schoolchildren asked different questions and the meeting was going on in warm atmosphere.

A number of schoolchildren expressed their desire to continue their education at the Polytechnic University. The next meeting was at Hrazdan Kh. Abovyan School Nr 1.

As told by the school director, about 70-80% of schoolchildren enter universities every year. The meeting was organized for 11th and 12th grade schoolchildren. A. Tadevosyan and G. Varderesyan clarified many questions connected with student life and even offered their help connected with preparations for exams if necessary.

Three faculties of the Polytechnic University were introduced and advertised in all three schools, as well as on full-time and part-time study system, specialties, and admission rules were explained, study rules about bachelor’s and master’s educational degree, student mobility, tuition fees, student scholarships and discounts, preparatory courses for admissions were also presented.

  1. Tadevosyan gave some books and other necessary informational materials to schools in the form of gifts.

They noticed the interest towards NPUA in all the schools visited. They agreed to meet with the schoolchildren in April again and to orientate them towards choosing the chemical sphere.
