Yuri Sargsyan

SEUA Rector (1988-2006)

Yuri Sargsyan was born on February 9, 1941.  In 1962 he graduated from Yerevan K.Marx Polytechnic Institute. 

He started his work experience in 1962 at Yerevan Polytechnic Institute.

In 1977-1978 he worked at Stanford and Illinois Universities of the USA as a visiting scholar.

In 1976-1988 he was head of chair “Theory of Machines and Mechanisms” of YPI.

In 1988-2006 he was YPI rector (later, SEUA).

In 1971-1972 he had scientific experience at Stanford and Illinois Universities of the USA.

In 1995-1996 he was vice president of RA NAS.

In 1990-1995 he was RA SS delegate.

In 1992-1995 he was member of the NA Constitutional Commission.

He is the honorable citizen of Nebraska State of the USA from 1972.  

In 2002 was awarded the education figure of the year at Armenian Educational Institution (the USA).  

From 2006 he was the best education figure of International Biographical Center (Cambridge).

In 1978 he was awarded the prize of the Company of American Engineers.

 In 1978 he was awarded the Special Prize of “Procter and Gamble” company.

In 1985 he was awarded the Medal “Symbol of Honor”.

In 1995 he was awarded the Special Prize of International Federation of Theory of Machines and Mechanisms.

In 1999 he was awarded the Medal “Anania Shirakatsi”.

In 2003 he was awarded the Medal “Saint Mesrop Mashtots”.

In 2011 he was awarded the Medal of RA Prime Minister.

In 2011, he received the title of an honored scientist of RA Science.
