You are invited to apply for the new “Young Professionals in Energy” professional program co-organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Energy Secure Armenia Activity and Armenia’s leading energy sector institutions.
Given the need for women and youth inclusion in Armenia’s energy sector, and to support them in pursuing careers in energy, the USAID Energy Secure Armenia Activity, in collaboration with Armenia’s leading energy sector institutions, is announcing a professional program opportunity for students and young professionals. Upon successful and positively evaluated completion of the program at one of the energy sector institutions, participants will be recommended for full-time employment.
The professional program is designed for third- and fourth-year bachelor’s, master’s students, Ph.D. candidates, and young professionals under 30 years of age, allowing participants to gain practical experience working in Armenia’s energy sector. The program starts in December 2024 and will last 6 months. It aims to prepare the next generation of energy sector specialists in Armenia and promote the inclusion of women and youth in the energy sector.
The program will provide you with experiences that will support your transition from university to real-world settings, including opportunities to:
- Undergo trainings on Armenia’s energy security, legal-regulatory reforms, renewable energy and energy efficiency sector, the liberalized electricity market and emergency situations;
- Gain practical technical, economic and legal knowledge of Armenia’s energy sector institutions and reforms;
- Analyze energy generation and consumption data and other trends to support monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes of energy projects and inform studies produced by Energy Secure Armenia;
- Learn about energy performance assessments and identification of energy-intensive buildings to propose energy efficiency improvements;
- Understand the intersection of gender and energy, and the importance for enhancing social and gender inclusivity in the sector;
- Give technical presentations on projects or research to develop public speaking and presentation skills; and
- Receive advice on professional development and entry into Armenia’s energy sector.
- Gain hands-on experience, build a professional network in the sector, and apply your knowledge in professional settings by working with leading energy institutions in Armenia including the following:
- RoA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure
- RoA Public Services Regulatory Commission
- Yerevan Thermal Power Plant
- Settlement Center/Market Operator
- Electro Power System Operator
- Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund
Positions such as engineer, lawyer, IT specialist etc., are available at leading energy companies for a 6-month term, with 4-8 hours workdays and appropriate salaries.
All applicants must submit an online application through this link by October 14, 2024 at 14։00. Early applications are encouraged: applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
Upon application review, selected candidates will be interviewed. Interviewed candidates must show proof of their Grade Point Average if necessary. After selection, candidates will participate in an orientation meeting.
