“Young Professionals in Energy”

Dear NPUA students and 2021-2023 alumni,

You are invited to apply for the “Young Professionals in Energy” program co-organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Energy Secure Armenia Activity and the National Polytechnic University of Armenia Foundation (NPUA)!

The professional program is designed for third- and fourth-year bachelor’s, master’s students, Ph.D. candidates, and recent graduates (2021-2023) of NPUA, allowing participants to gain practical experience working in Armenia’s energy sector starting on March 15, 2024, for 12 weeks. It aims to prepare the next generation of energy specialists in Armenia and promote the inclusion of women and youth in the energy sector.

The program will provide you with experiences that will support your transition from university to real-world settings, including opportunities to:

  • Undergo trainings on Armenia’s energy security, legal-regulatory reforms, renewable energy and energy efficiency sector, and the liberalized electricity market;
  • Research innovative financing mechanisms and international best practices for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects;
  • Learn about energy performance assessments and identification of energy-intensive buildings to propose energy efficiency improvements;
  • Analyze energy generation and consumption data and other trends to support monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes of energy projects and inform studies produced by Energy Secure Armenia;
  • Create power market simulation models to analyze potential for wholesale electricity market development, including integration of renewable energy sources;
  • Give technical presentations on projects or research to develop public speaking and presentation skills; and
  • Receive advice on professional development and entry into Armenia’s energy sector.

Two positions with 4-8 hours of average-load paid program are available for a 12-week term. Female candidates are specifically encouraged to apply. All applicants must submit an online application at https://forms.office.com/r/a4iyb2DPhM by February 20, 2024 at 24։00.
