On December 13, 2022, Jürgen Znotka, Professor of Computer Sciences of Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences, Member of the University Council, and Karin Kufman, Professor of Business Informatics, visited the National Polytechnic University of Armenia on business.

The main goal of the meeting was to launch a new cooperation between the two universities. The representatives of the two universities underlined the possibilities of cooperation in the direction of computer sciences, IT sector economics, energy and electrical engineering, as well as chemical technologies.

The representative of the DAAD Armenian office contributed greatly to establishing contact with Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences of Germany. During the first meeting, one of the topics discussed with the German professors was the development of DAAD and Erasmus+ KA1 programs between the German university and the Polytechnic University.

The Polytechnic University was successfully included in the above-mentioned programs, which implies the exchange programs for students, professors, and the administrative staff. Sargis Asatryants, NPUA Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Reforms, has already discussed the mechanisms for the implementation of the programs within the frames of the last meeting with Jürgen Znotka, Professor of Computer Sciences of Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences, Member of the University Council, and Karin Kufman, Professor of Business Informatics.

Cooperation in the frames of both programs will be implemented within the study programs of the Institute of Information and Telecommunication Technologies and Electronics and the newly established Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management of the Polytechnic University. Cooperation in the sphere of mechanical engineering and mechanical science is planned to be implemented in the next year. The Polytechnic University is the only Armenian university that cooperates with Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

As a result of this cooperation, the Polytechnic University will have an opportunity to exchange the advanced experience, mutual visits, introduce innovative programs, and bilateral cooperation between educational institutions will be expanded in the above-mentioned and some other directions. There will also be guest professors who will conduct professional lectures for our students and professors. The Polytechnic University also strives to have training courses in the newly established professions.
