Polytechnic University has had an excellent victory in Chess Grand-Prix held between organizations

“Chess players should find solutions in hopeless and bad positions during the games when they realize that solution or help from others is impossible. Imagination or your creativity skills can assist here leading to victories even when your position is hopeless”: these are the words of the 14th World Champion Vladimir Kramnik who considers chess to be the combination of games and art.

Polytechnic University team also took part in Chess Grand Prix held between organizations and proved by its victory that Polytechnic University population is not only creative in technologies but also in intellectual games.

The last fifth stage of Chess Grand Prix between organizations was finalized at the Chess Academy of Armenia. This tournament is the most expected and loved by all chess players and is held in 5 stages, and the winning teams are the ones that have demonstrated the best results in 3 out of 5 tournaments.

NPUA team was represented by chess players with national/international ratings, namely Head of Academic Division Karapet Kogarov, student of 640-2 group Gor Maghakyan, student of M 110 group Suren Avetisyan, student of IT 120-1 group Norayr Hakobyan and scientific secretary of NPUA Gyumri branch Harutyun Pepelyan. 19 teams took part in the games, including teams from SoftConstruct, Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine, Atenk, RA advocates 1, AUA, RA Central Bank, GazpromArmenia, Rusal Armenal, Vega, AEN, Union of Journalists of Armenia, AGBU and other organizations.

National Polytechnic University of Armenia has won and taken the first place after 5 stages. The tournament table is as follows:

1st place – team of National Polytechnic University of Armenia,

2nd place – SoftConstruct team

3rd place – RA Chamber of Advocates team
