The German Agency for International Cooperation operates in a number of countries and assists the government of Germany while implementing different programs of sustainable development.
Vice-rector for Internationalization and Reforms Sargis Asatryants has hosted the delegation in NPUA. The structure of the Polytechnic University was presented at the meeting as well as the main cooperation directions with GIZ.
Public sector development and vocational education and training program adviser Nora Sargsyan, advisers to environmental programs of GIZ Nver Khachaturyan and Alexander Arakelyan headed by team leader of EU4Sevan project Christian Henshel were in the delegation.
From 1990s, GIZ has been implementing reforms in Armenia in the spheres of nature protection, climate change, sustainable economic development as well as IT, engineering, business, vocational training and in other sectors.
The adviser to the project of sustainable development and environment Hayk Akarmazyan has presented the measures taken for protection of Lake Sevan and environment that can be included in EU4Sevan program financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
They have agreed to discuss the offers presented as well as on the monitoring and management of Lake Sevan catchment basin, development of technologies to save water resources to be favorable for eco system, cleaning of waste waters, including joint initiatives to implement nature-based solutions.
At the end of the meeting deputy director of the Institute of Energetics and Electrical Technology Alexander Drnoyan has organized a tour around the university, introduced NPUA laboratory equipment and research opportunities.
