NPUA Rector Gor Vardanyan has signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with co-founder of STARMUS international festival, employee of the Astrophysics Institute, Doctor Garik Israyelyan. Starmus international festival has a technological direction and unites science, education, art and technologies thus grouping the interesting and innovative ideas of the world. The scientific festival will be held on September 5-10, 2022 in Armenia. It is entitled “Starmus festival VI: 50 years on Mars”. Famous scientists, artists, musicians including 8 Nobel Prize laureates will visit Armenia within the frames of the festival. The Memorandum will enable the parties to unite their efforts in Armenia to popularize the science and communicate about it. According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the Polytechnic University is presented as the partner University of “STARMUS VI” festival in Armenia that means that within the frames of the cooperation with STARMUS the world-famous speakers will lecture in September at the university. Rector Gor Vardanyan while welcoming the prominent scientist Garik Israyelyan and those present, pointed out that this Memorandum is very important for him: Armenia has always been included in world scientific life throughout its history, with its scientific community and engineers that have become prominent scientists and made inventions. I am proud that one of these prominent scientists is you, the founder of this reputable festival, our countryman”. The rector highlighted that Garik Israyelyan redefines and emphasizes the influence of Armenian scientists and Armenian scientific community all over the world with his scientific successes. The rector pointed out that according to the Memorandum, the Polytechnic University is becoming a partner of this reputable international festival and will be included in programs of the festival with its scientists, students, young engineers and schoolchildren. Electronic tickets will be provided to NPUA beneficiaries namely the academic staff and students, so that the latter will have an opportunity to take part and hear the scientists that will present different reports and lectures within the frames of the festival. The rector was delighted to point out that one of the speakers of this year’s international festival Starmus will be NPUA Honorable Doctor Toni Fadel. Gor Vardanyan is willing to assist the festival as much as he can so that the days in Yerevan will be festive, scientific and cultural. He hoped that based on the festival format where universities can present their scientific innovative values the Polytechnic University will be presented at its best with its scientific and engineering results. According to the rector, the festival will shape a new scientific culture among our youth, will enable to have great achievements in the future and make our country more presentable. Garik Israyelyan pointed out that the cooperation with the Polytechnic University is especially important for him, as he considers the importance of engineering profession and professionals as a huge asset. “I always mention that the advancement of astrophysics is connected with engineering sciences by 99% without which the science would not have been developed. Everybody should realize the importance of the engineering work. Space technology conference will be organized within the frames of the festival where lectures on machine building will be held that are especially for the engineers” – the scientist pointed out. According to Garik Israyelyan, the vision of the festival is to unite science and art thus encouraging the youth to do inventions.
