The unexpected visit of Polytechnic University students to the smallest members of the Polytechnic University

It has become a tradition. Every year, in the beginning of summer, on the International Day for Protection of Children, NPUA kindergarten hosts guests. That day is a special one for children as many visitors come to the Kindergarten. NPUA Vice-rector Elbak Elbakyan and the Student Council members came to the kindergarten carrying presents. Vice-rector Elbakyan wished children to be healthy, careless and have a happy childhood. He would like to see smile and laugh on the bright faces of everybody.

The children surprised the guests with their knowledge and speeches. They agreed to visit them more often and spend nice time together.

The International Day for Protection of Children is celebrated every year on June 1 and was established in 1949, in Paris by the International Democratic Federation of Women.

The holiday was first celebrated in 1950.  The day has its roots and history. Chinese Consul General in San Francisco, California, gathered orphans and organized a holiday for them. The Holiday according to Chinese tradition is called Dragon boats Festival.  On the same day in Geneva, a conference took place devoted to the issues of children. Thanks to these two events, the idea to establish a festival devoted to children emerged.

In 1956, the United Nations Organization, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child that presents offers that were adopted my many states for the protection of children. And in 1989 the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, specific responsibilities of all states towards its small citizens. Responsibilities of adults and rights of children are written in the document.
