NPUA rector Gor Vardanyan continues series of meetings with the teaching staff of the chairs of the university

On December 9, NPUA rector Gor Vardanyan had a meeting with specialized
chairs of “Electric Machines and Devices”, and “Electrical Engineering and
Electric Utilization” at the Institute of Energetics and Electrical Engineering.
The Vice Rector for Educational Programs and Teaching Affairs, Head of
Chair of Electric Machines and Devices Marinka Baghdasaryan, Vice Rector
for Science and Technological Cooperation Areg Grigoryan, Vice Rector for

International Cooperation and Educational Reforms Sargis Asatryants, Head
of Chair of Electrical Engineering and Electric Utilization Eduard Hakobyan,
representatives of the teaching staff were present at the meeting.
We would like to highlight that the management of the Polytechnic University
is going to implement a huge program of reforms, via which it will be possible
to provide students with competitive knowledge, creative environment and
high quality education.
At the beginning of the meeting the rector of the university highlighted that the
core significance of this initiative is for the organization of educational
processes and the role of chairs is extremely valuable as well as we would
like to acquaint the teaching staff with these expected changes happening at
the university.
The rector pointed out that the Polytechnic University should not only be
accepted as a higher educational and scientific institution but also as an
institution offering technological education and policy implementations on all
levels of education because there are respective infrastructures implementing
three levels of education such as pre-school, secondary, professional and
higher education functioning within university structure.
According to G.Vardanyan, the reforms refer both to education content,
educational technologies and resource distribution as well as rational
utilization.
The rector pointed out that modern students understand that they should
become competitive specialists; therefore, the university should review its
educational programs, educational methods and technology and establish
such an educational environment that its graduate students will be able to
easily find their place in the labor market.
According to the rector, the university should not educate a general engineer
but a specific specialist in its sphere.
The rector meticulously responded to the necessity to equip the material and
technological base of the university, to include new educational programs,
diversify financial sources, increase foreign student population, increase the
role of highly qualified and trained lecturers, establish an international testing
center for TOEFL preparation at the Center for Continuing Education and
Teacher Training, have a leading role in international grant programs and a
number of other issues, highlighting that the expected changes are not the
main target, and are conditional on provision of new quality of education and
the necessity to be competitive. At the end of the meeting different questions
and suggestions were highlighted. There were detailed discussions around a
series of issues and externship organization as well as updates of laboratory
base and connections between the university and labor market.
