The rector had a meeting with the teaching staff of the chairs of “Physics”, “Specialized mathematics education”, and “General mathematics education” 

The Rector of National Polytechnic University of Armenia Gor Vardanyan continues his initiated series of work meetings with the teaching staff of the university chairs.

On December 8, the meeting was held with the specialized chairs of “Physics”, “Specialized Mathematics Education” and “General Mathematics Education” at the faculty of Applied Mathematics and Physics.

Vice-rector for Educational programs and teaching affairs Marinka Baghdasaryan, vice-rector for International cooperation and educational reforms Sargis Asatryants, dean of the faculty of Applied Mathematics and Physics Ishkhan Hovhannisyan as well as heads of the specialized chairs of “Physics”, “Specialized Mathematics Education” and “General Mathematics Education” A. Khachatryan, S.Yepiskoposyan, H. Khosrovyan and teaching staff representatives were present at the meeting.

Rector G. Vardanyan introduced programs of the envisaged reforms to the teaching staff of the chairs according to spheres, namely, education, science, internationalization, infrastructures, electronic resources, training programs etc. G. Vardanyan pointed out that to meet this objective, the university provides maximum involvement of internal and external beneficiaries in decision-making processes, as well as the university has formed an efficient environment to detect the needs and requirements.

According to G. Vardanyan, mathematics education, both general and specialized, is part of the education and plays a major role in the acquisition and deepening of technical and natural science knowledge.  The rector spoke about the need to increase the role of physics and mathematics, the importance and significance of these subjects in the sphere of science and education.  G. Vardanyan pointed out that the role of physics and mathematics is extremely essential and has core significance in the process of provision of high quality engineering education.  Therefore, we carry out research and reviews of educational programs and curriculum for the above-mentioned reasons. The number of mathematics and physics lessons will increase especially in the directions of engineering education and its requirements. The physics laboratories will be completely re-equipped. The rector emphasized that physics and mathematics are considered to be the backbone of the technological education and the university should base high quality technological education on this basis.

Rector of the higher institution necessitated the participation of the representatives of the chairs around this topic, pointing out that it will enable them to share their insights, distinct experience and approaches and will allow us to find the right ways while making comparisons.   

The representatives of the chairs expressed their gratitude for the reforms implemented at the university and especially to the attention paid to the university wide issues and the aspiration and determination to make such changes, wishing them to quickly implement all those programs.

 At the end of the meeting the rector noted his willingness to listen to suggestions and discuss available issues and problems.
