Foreign students at the Polytechnic University

Foreign students at the Polytechnic University

Does higher education in Armenia interest foreigners? Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is also interested in this issue that was highlighted in his last facebook press-conference pointing out that such an interest exists only towards the medical university. Sona Hakobyan has found out during the live broadcast of “Radiolur” Public Radio of Armenia if foreign students are interested in our other famous universities, including National Polytechnic University of Armenia.

Our universities really have problems in attracting foreign students – Ruben Argashyan, vice rector for International Cooperation and Educational Reforms of National Polytechnic University of Armenia pointed out.

Meanwhile, there was time when our university was in line with the medical university attracting students from foreign countries, highlighted the vice rector in the interview to “Radiolur”.

A big number of foreign students studied at the university at the beginning of the 2000s. Their number was around 750. Afterwards, number of foreign applicants significantly decreased and not only at the Polytechnic Universty.

Fortunately, during the last years, relations with international partners were restored and some actions are taken to attract foreign students, Ruben Argashyan pointed out.

Currently, the Polytechnic University has cooperation agreements with 175 international partner universities and research centers worldwide.

More than 22 international scientific and research and grant programs are implemented in the university annually, the vice rector mentions.
