Foreign students at the Polytechnic University Public Radio of Armenia

Does the Armenian higher education interest foreigners? The question interest the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who pointed out in the last Facebook press conference that such an interest exists towards the Medical University.

During the on air program “Radiolur” of the public radio of Armenia Sona Hakobyan found out if other famous universities of Armenia pose any interest for foreign students including the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.

Our universities have problems in attracting foreign students as vice-rector for International Cooperation and Educational Reforms of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia Ruben Aghgashyan says. There were time periods when their university was in line with the Medical University when enrolling students from foreign countries, the vice-rector told during his interview to “Radiolur”. A big number of students studied at the university in the beginning of 2000 and their number was about 750. Afterwards, their number abruptly decreased and not only at the Polytechnic University. Fortunately, nowadays, cooperation and relations with international partners started to be restored and some works are carried out to attract foreign students.

Currently, the Polytechnic University has 175 cooperation agreements with international partner universities and research centers all over the world. More than 22 international scientific research and grant programs are implemented at the university annually as the vice-rector states.
