“Chess” meeting within the frames of MARUEEB Erasmus+ program

On March 23, the “Chess” meeting with coordinator of MARUEEB Erasmus+ program, professors Jiovanni Tanda and Vincenzo Bianco from the University of Genoa (Italy) was held at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA).

NPUA Rector Vostanik Marukhyan, NPUA vice-rector for International Cooperation and Educational Reforms Ruben Aghgashyan, deputy director of the Institute of Energetics and Electrical Engineering Aram Gevorgyan, associate professor of the chair of Thermal Energy and Nature Protection of the Institute of Energetics and Electrical Engineering of NPUA Razmik Barseghyan traveled to Italy within the frames of MARUEEB Erasmus+ program to participate in the meeting-workshop at the University of Genoa of participating universities.

As a result of the discussion during the meeting, Professor J. Tanda expressed his desire to play chess in Armenia. He was impressed by the fact that children in Armenian schools learn to play chess.

The Vice-rector R. Aghgashyan invited J. Tanda and V. Bianco who visited our country within the frames of the program to play chess at the Polytechnic University. The professors competed with NPUA lecturer, grandmaster of chess among women, double champion of Armenia, member of Armenian chess team Lilit Galoyan, the student of the Institute of Communication Technology and Electronics Sona Avetisyan and assistant to NPUA Rector Karapet Kogarov.

Professor J. Tanda in the end of the game said that he was happy to play chess in Armenia and master his skills here taking into account the approach of Armenians towards chess.

While implementing MARUEEB Erasmus+ program, a series of visits of academic staff periodically take place between partner universities. The visits include visits of lecturers from European member universities to partner universities in Armenia and Russia as well as visits  of lecturers from Armenian universities to Russian partner universities and vice versa.

Within the frames of this program the partner universities of Armenia, American University of Armenia (AUA) and National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) mutually organized a series of Yerevan training courses on Engineering and Stability. These universities invited speakers from program partner universities and organized a series of lectures and workshops. The series of the future events will be in April, and the meeting will be held at the Polytechnic University.
