“Philip Morris Armenia” company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Yerevan State University (YSU) and National Polytechnic University of Armenia on December 5. It became known from the Department of Public Relations and Information of RA Ministry of Economic Development and Investments.
According to the Memorandum signed with Yerevan State University, “Philip Morris” will assist educational and research programs of the university and according to the Memorandum signed with the Polytechnic University, the company targets the establishment of scientific and research center on the territory of the university.
On March 2 of this year, Minister of RA Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan and President of Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa Region at ‘Philip Morris International Management SA’ and ‘PMI Duty Free’ Drago Azinovic signed Framework Memorandum of Understanding at RA Government. Innovation hubs of research and development will be established in Armenia according to the Memorandum. The activities of this institution should be implemented in two directions: research and innovation and educational programs.
Therefore, partnership in the two above-mentioned directions has started by the signing of the Memorandum between two universities and “Philip Morris Armenia” company.
RA Economic Development and Investments deputy Minister Emil Tarassyan was present at the the signing of the Memorandums.
YSU rector Aram Simonyan, NPUA rector Vostanik Marukhyan, university leadership, managing director of “Philip Morris Armenia” company Natalia Mayorova, VP for research and intellectural property Luca Rossi, manager of technological affairs Ricardo Riva Regiori, director of IBM Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center Bagrat Yengibaryan have attended the Memorandum signing ceremony.
