“Philip Morris” will establish scientific and research center at the Polytechnic University

Philip Morris Armenia” company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Polytechnic University of Armenia on December 5 that target to establish a Research and Development Center of ‘Philip Morris’ in Armenia.

The Center together with the Polytechnic University will implement research activities and develop educational programs.

The managing director of “Philip Morris Armenia” Natalia Mayorova pointed out that the center will enable the Armenian youth not only to carry out scientific and research activities but to cooperate with more than 400 scientists having global reputation.

“The company will expand its activities in the scientific and research sphere taking into account the country’s scientific, technical experience and potential”, – Natalia Mayorova said.

NPUA rector Vostanik Marukhyan said that the center is the best example of university-employer cooperation existing in the Armenian reality.

“The program will become a foundation for the laboratories of a new generation and will enable to work mutually for the development of educational and competitive programs”, – Marukhyan pointed out.

“It is a great honor us to cooperate with the Polytechnic University. We are impressed by the scientific potential of Armenia and this is the reason for us to make investments here. We are sure that both the university and the community will reap the results from this cooperation”, – VP for research and intellectural property Luca Rossi highlighted.

Scientific and research centers of “Philip Morris” company are situated in Switzerland and Singapore. The base and applied research in the spheres of chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, engineering, thermodynamics and other spheres are currently carried out in the centers.   

“Philip Morris International” is a leading international tobacco company, and its production is sold in 180 countries. The company owns 56 production factories located in 33 countries of the world.
